- Cast the Circle.
- Have five people within the Circle, each at a corresponding elemental poin for Spirit, Fire, Air, Water and Earth forming
a pentacle around the couple.
- Air says, "I welcome the element of Air which brings to this Circle and this marriage the gifts of communication and good
memories."
- Fire says, "I welcome the element of Fire which brings to this Circle and this marriage the gifts of loyalty and passion."
- Water says, "I welcome the element of Water which brings to this Circle and this marriage the gift of love and patience."
- Earth says, "I welcome the element of Earth which brings to this Circle and this marriage the gift of stability and a
firm foundation."
- Spirit says, "I welcome the element of Spirit which brings to this Circle and this marriage the gift of wise choices in
all that you do for and say to each other."
- Partner One says, "Before this company, in this place and at this time I come to pledge my commitment to [name of Partner
Two]."
- Partner Two says, "Before this company, in this place and at this time I come to pledge my commitment to [name of Partner
One]."
- A chosen guest breaks a piece of bread in half and offers a piece to each partner, saying "May you never know what you
want and always share what you have."
- Another chosen guest offers each partner wine/juice from a chalice, saying "May you drink from the same cup and always
remember the love you expressed for each other on this day/night."
- Partner One to Two says, "[Name], I offer this ring, symbol of unity, with love and in trust and as a sign of my commitment
to you."
- Partner Two repeats the same phrase.
- Both partners wrap the cord around the wrists of their joined hands and, looking at each other, say in unison, "I bind
myself to you of my own free will. I will honour your right to change and grow, and I will support and love you in the best
way I can, for as long as love lasts. So mote it be!"
- The handfasting is complete.
